At allpay, we’ve always believed that doing business is about more than providing services, it’s about making a positive difference. As one of the UK’s leading payments specialists, we play a vital role in helping organisations collect and manage payments securely. But behind every transaction is a bigger story: our responsibility to the environment, to the communities we serve, and to the integrity of how we operate.
That’s why Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are woven into the heart of our business. They guide our decisions, shape our culture, and hold us accountable to the values that matter most today: protecting the planet, creating positive social value, and leading with integrity.
Protecting the planet
We know that every business has a role to play in tackling climate change, and at allpay, we’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint and working towards a net-zero future. Our carbon impact is independently measured and checked through Planet Mark certification, which ensures we are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative and guided by experts in setting a realistic path to net zero.
Across our operations, we’re making real changes. All the electricity we use is sourced from Ecotricity, a 100% renewable provider. Our employee-led “Net Zero Heroes” forum drives grassroots initiatives, encouraging colleagues to put forward innovative ideas for cutting carbon and improving sustainability. On our sites, we’ve installed solar panels, introduced PIR and LED lighting to reduce energy use, and made electric vehicle charging points available to staff. We’re also proud to be part of the Greener Footprints Herefordshire “30 for 2030” campaign, a collective effort to help our county achieve its zero-carbon goal.
Even the smaller details count. From reducing single-use plastics across our offices to sourcing materials locally and choosing FSC and PEFC certified paper, we’re ensuring sustainability touches every corner of our operations. Taken together, these steps reflect our belief that creating a greener tomorrow starts with action today.
Creating social value
Our mission has always been rooted in community. From our base in Herefordshire to partnerships across the UK, we work hard to ensure that the value we create goes beyond our business.
The allpay Charity Committee, founded in 2009, has raised thousands of pounds every year for local and national causes, with everything from cake sales to sports tournaments bringing colleagues together to make a difference. Even our hot drink vending machines contribute, raising around £5,000 annually for charity. Alongside fundraising, we sponsor initiatives such as Hereford Means Business and Westfields Football Team, helping to nurture local growth, collaboration, and grassroots sport.
Through partnerships with national organisations, we also extend our impact further afield. With Turn2us, we help people access charitable grants and financial support, and through our work with the Workers’ Educational Association we support adult education programmes that focus on employability, digital skills, and financial literacy. These collaborations put practical tools in people’s hands and open doors to long-term opportunity.
Inside the business, we continue to put our people first. More than 15 percent of our workforce has either completed or is currently undertaking an apprenticeship, reflecting our deep commitment to developing talent and creating pathways into employment. We were also proud to be Herefordshire’s first accredited Living Wage Employer back in 2014, ensuring fair pay in one of the UK’s lowest-paid counties and setting an example we continue to champion today.
Leading with integrity
Trust is the foundation of payments, and it is also the foundation of our business with strong governance underpins everything we do at allpay.
We keep high standards through regular audits and accreditations, including ISO certifications, PCI DSS compliance, and Cyber Essentials Plus. But governance is about more than technical standards. It’s about embedding integrity in every decision. Our risk management framework ensures we are alert to financial, operational, and reputational risks, while robust cybersecurity and data privacy protections safeguard the sensitive information entrusted to us.
Our Modern Slavery Policy ensures that ethical practices extend across our supply chains, while whistleblower protections provide a framework for accountability. Transparency is also a core principle: we report openly using recognised frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board to show progress and hold ourselves accountable to our stakeholders.
Looking ahead
Our ESG journey is ongoing, and we know there is always more to do. We are determined to keep pushing forward, reducing our carbon footprint further, deepening our social impact, and supporting the highest levels of governance. Because at allpay, being a payments leader means more than handling transactions. It means being a responsible employer, a trusted partner, and a business that stands for people, the planet, and integrity.
