our history


Pioneering Payments

Formerly known as Financial Collection Services (FCS) Ltd, we were established in 1994 providing swipe card payment facilities to facilitate revenue collection for local government and housing associations. We began with two clients and four members of staff.

Managing Director and Founder, Tony Killeen, first came up with the idea of electronic bill payments whilst collecting rents on behalf of the council:

"It was very frustrating working with paper-based bill payment systems. I knew there had to be a better way. This gave me the idea of using technology to speed up the process. What I used to do on paper at the council, we now do with swipe cards.

Our system provides convenience and choice for the people paying bills and greater efficiency for any organisation collecting payments."

2000's


We rebranded to allpay.net Limited in October 2000 to reflect the electronic core of our business, offering payment solutions to any industry requiring revenue collection.

In 2004, our entire operation relocated to new, purpose-built premises in Whitestone on the outskirts of Hereford, marking the beginning of another growth phase.

November 2006 saw the completion of a second, purpose-built office and production area with state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned, modern, open-plan offices with a restaurant, gym facilities and a nature reserve.

In August 2008, we became PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant – a critical achievement in today’s payment card market. In addition to the strict ISO 27001 security accreditation achieved in October 2008 and ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification, this complemented our achievement in becoming a BACS accredited Commercial Bureau and accredited to Mastercard physical security standard.

In 2009, we became allpay Limited. The launch of a new brand, along with our Prepaid solution, took us into our next phase of growth as a technological, innovative and customer-focused organisation.

2010's


In 2010, we launched our in-house design and print business, allpay Print and Design. The business developed to offer a complete end-to-end service; from simple, straightforward litho or digital print to creating a complete suite of marketing materials.

By 2012, we launched our allpay Payment App, making payments easier by allowing quick and simple transactions straight from your phone.

2015 brought an upgrade to our Prepaid platform allowing for growth year-on-year, including an industry award in 2017.

In 2018, we partnered with ClearBank®, to transform the bill payments and prepaid market. The partnership with ClearBank® allows us to have access to a cloud-based, purpose-built, secure banking platform, providing industry-leading resilience, security and scalability. This allows us to provide a virtual account platform to our clients and their customers, with access to Bacs, Chaps and Faster Payments.

In 2019, we refreshed our logo, bringing a cleaner design demonstrating our modern, innovative approach to payment collection.

All eyes were on Prepaid in 2020, winning awards at both the Emerging Payments Awards and Payment Awards. We focused on enabling the solution to improve financial inclusion and as a tool for fund disbursement in emergency situations.

2021 marks a new chapter for allpay, as we look to launch a new solution which we believe will change the payments landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on our upcoming plans.
