In line with most other Local Authorities, Canterbury City Council is always faced with the challenge of trying to reduce its costs whilst providing improved and more responsive services to our customers.
allpay was asked to supply a payment card solution for Council Tax, Benefit Overpayments, Business Rates, Housing Rents and Garages. We also wanted allpay to arrange a barcode solution for our sundry debt invoices and parking penalty charge notices.
We went “live” with our payment card system on 1st March 2008 and as a result we managed to realise over £60k pa gross budget savings. The project ran on time and on budget (how often can people say that with I.T. projects?) thanks to tight project management, a very good internal project team and an extremely effective working relationship with allpay.
It is always a challenge to deliver efficiency savings whilst improving the services you offer but we are pleased that we have managed to tick both boxes with this project.
Andrew Stevens, Head of Revenues & Benefits, Canterbury City Council
Please can you pass on a big thanks to everyone at allpay. It has been a far less painful process than I first imagined and on the whole, the response has been very positive and definitely a vast improvement on the rent books we used to send out.
Steve Gallacher, Rent & Accounts Manager, South Essex Homes
The take-up from our members has been excellent, exceeding our expectations by far. Members find allpay safe, easy and convenient. We have found that our members tend to make ad hoc additional payments and it has reduced the number of debtors we had because of the anonymity of using a card. We would certainly recommend allpay.
Sheryl Godwin, Marketing Officer, Cardiff Credit Union
The City of Edinburgh Council wanted a modern and efficient payment method which offered plenty of choice for its taxpayers. allpay delivered such a solution.
Alistair Nairn, Revenues and Benefits Manager, City of Edinburgh Council
allpay offers our clients the ultimate in convenience as well as providing more choice in how they can pay into their Debt Management Plan.
Accounts Manager, EuroDebt Financial Services
Using the allpay payment network has been an unqualified success and has exceeded all expectations. Our customers have completely embraced this new method of rent payment. So much so that it has been possible to completely revise Rent Collection, and review other aspects of the Housing Service.
allpay is a market leader in this form of payment transfer. Their professionalism and attention to detail was excellent and we have not been disappointed with our choice of contractor. They have been fully customer-focussed and appreciative of our needs and requirements. We look forward to a long and productive relationship together.
Graham Sims, Head of Service, Housing Management, Neighbourhood & Services, Bristol City Council
The implementation process was much simpler with allpay as is the system for obtaining payment files and requesting new cards. Moving to allpay has been popular both in-house and with tenants. After fixing a change over date and implementing a publicity campaign the number of tenants wanting to use swipecards rose by approximately 10 percent(of all tenants paying rent) in four weeks.
Sue Mallinson, Treasury & Finance Manager, South Lakes Housing
allpay’s swipecard can help some of the vulnerable sections of society (unbanked, elderly or unemployed) make their required payments in a convenient and cost free way. Compared with posting a cheque, buying a postal order or using a third party cheque provider where a cost is incurred to the payer, using allpay’s swipecard at the Post Office or PayPoint is free and a receipt is issued which adds peace of mind that the payment has been made.
Najib Nathoo, CEO, 1st Credit
allpay genuinely understood our business requirements and were very focused towards providing a service that actually met those requirements.
The transition of existing local contracts, both with Allpay and other suppliers, onto the new national contract was extremely smooth due to Allpay’s excellent IT capability.
The quality of the service following implementation has been first class. The issuing of cards, processing of payments, submission of payment files and transfer of funds have been 100% within our (already demanding) Service Level Agreements.
The helpdesk support has seldom been called upon, but has been excellent where needed. All court operations have fed back very positively on the quality of the service provided.
Charles Angus, Modernising Money Handling Programme Manager, Her Majesty’s Court Services, Ministry of Justice.
allpay is thrilled to announce that it is in discussions with National Lottery operator Camelot with a view to collecting bill payments through its network of terminals, thereby offering bill payers even more convenient places to pay
