A nature reserve, recycling policy and commitment to reducing waste paper have all helped payments specialist allpay achieve its latest management standard certification.
The ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification is the most recent in a line of achievements for the company and reflects allpay’s commitment to environmental management.
But instead of just making sure the right boxes were ticked when it came to the audit process the team had already decided to embrace the best of good green credentials!
Deputy Managing Director Mark Thomas comments:
Whilst we have standard recycling procedures in place, we’ve taken it a step further by reducing energy consumption and developing our own nature reserve that attracts some wonderful vertebrates and amphibians. Our latest pond audit unveiled four frogs and 12 types of beetle!
Recent introductions to the company’s procedures include a ‘Switch off’ energy saving policy and an ‘Office Paper Saving’ policy and we have conducted a Wind Turbine Survey with a view to introducing alternative forms of sustainable energy. Also up for discussion are electric bicycles and cars and an allpay vegetable patch complete with compost heap made from the company restaurant’s waste.
Mark continues:
We passed on our first attempt at the ISO14001 certification, which we have been told is unusual. We can attribute this to the passion and commitment of the allpay team which is constantly looking for ways to improve the workplace whilst taking responsibility of the environment.
