Barcoded penalty charge notices from allpay.net
allpay.net is offering a new barcoded payment solution to all UK local authorities that have responsibility for the enforcement of parking fines.
Up and until now errant motorists have been forced to pay penalty charges by post or at the Town Hall, but not any more.
With the allpay.net barcoded notice, fines can be paid at any UK Post Office or over the telephone, giving payers much greater choice, which may in turn contribute towards a reduction in defaulted payments to the council.
Over the past few years the vast majority of parking enforcement powers in the UK's towns and cities have been passed from the police to local authorities.
This means while it is no longer a criminal offence to park in the wrong place, the council still has responsibility for ensuring controls and restrictions are in place through the use of wardens and their ability to issue fixed penalty notices.
With the allpay.net system, councils don't have to worry about obtaining barcode reading software nor additional printing costs as this is all taken care for them.
And all payments made this way are consolidated by allpay.net with relevant payment files made available for the client organisation to retrieve on the very next working day via allpay.net's secure client communication website, WebconnecT.
In addition to parking fines, barcoded notices from allpay.net can also be used by councils for other one-off penalties including dropping litter, dog fouling or fly posting.
Ian Proctor, Income and Payments Systems Officer at Hull City Council, has already been converted to the allpay.net barcoded solution.
"allpay.net's barcoding solutions, currently being developed for Hull City Council, will offer a greater choice of payment methods for many of our services.
"For example, it will be easy and convenient for a parking ticket, issued in Hull's shortly to be decriminalised parking zones, to be paid locally or indeed anywhere in the UK, and at no cost to the payer."
