Westfields in FA Cup success, Davis and Jefferson lead on in cup
Westfields marched on in the FA Cup with a fine 3-0 victory over Racing Club Warwick at allpay.park on Saturday to go through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in their 40th anniversary year. Westfields overcame the wet blustery conditions to put an accomplished team performance together and extended their unbeaten run at allpay.park to 4 matches this season and again Jon Pugh and his defence kept a clean sheet.

Westfields without suspended Scott Jackson, Alex Hunt and Jamie Cuss along with injured Dave Howes and Matt Beale gave a debut to former Ross Town player Adam Bridges who linked up effectively with tireless working skipper Mark Hibbard to form a hard working mid field alongside Ashley Day.
Westfields opened up well and Alex Winstone was not far away in the 3rd minute when he headed narrowly wide from a Kevin Jinks free kick.
Westfields, however, got an early breakthrough on the slick surface when Chris Jefferson put Mark Davis into a shooting position and the Westfields leading scorer made no mistake from 12 yards to put Westfields into an early lead with a low shot.
Westfields kept up the early pressure and Adam Bridges hit a speculative 20 yard shot just over the Warwick bar.
Warwick should have drawn level on the half hour when Joe Henney outjumped the home defence but the ball fell the wrong side of the Westfields post.
Back came Westfields and Mark Davis had another header cleared off the visitors' goal line and Paul Burton was just too late to sieze on the rebound.
However, on the stroke of half time Westfields deservedly increased their lead when from a Mark Hibbard corner kick Chris Jefferson outjumped the Warwick defence to put Westfields 2-0 ahead at the interval.
After the break Warwick tried hard to get back into the game but Alex Winstone and Anthony Rivett at the heart of the defence were solid for Westfields.
Westfields then increased their lead in the 57th minute when Paul Burton did well in the visitors' penalty area and when his shot was partially cleared it fell nicely for Mark Davis who smashed the ball into the net to put Westfields into a commanding 3-0 lead. The Hereford side then began to knock the ball around well on the big allpay.park pitch.
Manager Sean Edwards sent on substitutes Derek Craddock, Jon Hill and Paul Jones to give them their moment of FA Cup glory and they continued to work hard although Warwick could have got a late consolation goal when John Pugh and Alex Winstone missed a through ball from Lee Constable but the ball ran inches past the Westfields post.
Westfields finished strongly to maintain their superiority and give themselves a place in the next round to take place on 16th September.
